About our nursery Walthamstow

Located in a purpose-built ground floor property with three airy playrooms that have interconnecting doors. Our large secure garden where we like to spend lots of time has plenty of space to build, create or zoom around via a range of trikes, cars and scooters as well as an undercover all-weather area, built in slides and a dedicated baby garden.

Our Rooms
Baby Room

Our 12-place baby room is a nurturing environment where babies learn key baby signing alongside their day, build on their physical development with our indoor wooden climb and crawl frame and slide or ball pit or enjoy exploring through the double doors that open out on to a dedicated outdoor space just for them. Our baby room leader Laura has a teaching degree and has just returned from Maternity leave after having a little one of her own and has been part of the Footsteps group since 2018

Our spacious 18-place toddler room is filled with curious minds who are exploring playing alongside others in areas of their interest such as in our large home corner, dedicated dinosaur area or relaxing in the book corner whilst having their favourite story read to them. Our toddlers love to spend lots of time outside in the garden climbing the little tree house frame or riding in the little tykes cars. Our toddler room leader Roxane has a degree in early years and has lots of experience with he toddler age group supporting big emotions and potty training, she has been with the Footsteps group since 2019.

Preschool room

Our large 28 place preschool room is a fun and engaging environment supporting children on their individual journey to being ready for their next steps into school. Children have opportunities to explore mindfulness, positive affirmations as well as learn and develop through play and experiences created based on children’s interests, needs, our nursery community and the world.

Our preschool room Leader Lucy is also our Deputy Manager and has lots of experience in supporting children and parents in being ready for their next steps at school. Lucy has also completed a SENDCO qualification and has been with Footsteps since 2018.

About the location

The nursery is just behind the Queens Road Community Centre which also houses the Leyton Children’s Hub run by the local authority. We are a 5-minute walk from Queens Road train station and a 10-minute walk from either St. James Street or Walthamstow Central Station. There are bike locking facilities (for grown-ups too) as well as ample space to store buggies, scooters or bike seats.

We are also next to a lovely little secure children’s play area where many of our families gather after their nursery day or at the weekend.

Hannah - Footsteps Walthamstow

What are the parents saying

Such a fantastic nursery! The staff are really warm and professional. Communication with parents is great. Our kids settled really quickly and were made to feel so welcome. Would thoroughly recommend to other parents.

Best we could have hoped for. A wonderful team, brilliant facilities (we love the garden!) and total peace of mind.

I have two kids who attend Footsteps Day Nursery, every week I'm amazed at all things to do with the nursery. From the food, care, education, feedback to parents with the app and most impressively the diversity of activities for the kids. Physically the space is good, with three rooms and a big outdoor area for the kids to run around. Each week they learn something new based on the season, events or themes. Some of the recent activities include; Hot Air Balloon making Car wash Fruit Salad making Fruit tasting / texture descriptions Colour mixing with foam Doctors Surgery Hair Dressers Eid celebration Train boxes Sweeping into shapes Independence day I could go on! Staff are all great, have a good relationship with the kids and really do care for them. We've also met lots of other parents and the kids have made loads of friends too. Keep up the good work team!

I feel incredibly privileged that both my children attend this nursery because they go above and beyond every single day. The staff are friendly and polite and most importantly you can tell that they really genuinely care for the children that attend Footsteps. The staff build excellent relationships with children and their families and I know that my children are going to be safe and happy when they go to Footsteps. I'm always impressed by the amount of activities my children have done. In addition to weekly music and football lessons, the children learn about different cultures and their celebrations. They do arts and crafts and cooking on a regular basis. My children eat a nutritious diet there which is especially impressive as my oldest can be quite fussy at home. Communication is excellent: if one of my children has had a little bump, I know I will be told and get to know what they eat and how much, how long they sleep and there are regular observations with photographs of the excellent activities they get to do. I have been meaning to write this review for a while now and then saw that someone has left a one star review because of a phone call! I knew I had to let prospective parents know that my experience is of a very well-run chain of nurseries (my daughter has been at two) where my kids are happy, safe and I (as a teacher) am so impressed with the academic progress my children are making there too in terms of their experience of the world and the development of their language and their confidence. Thank you Footsteps!

Our son attended Footsteps from age one until starting primary school and it was such a brilliant experience for him. The management and staff are wonderful, and take a real interest in the children they care for. They also go to great lengths to ensure the activities they do are fun, that the kids are happy, and in the pre-school room they gave lots of excellent help in preparing the children for primary school. We felt very lucky to find such first-rate care for our child. Highly recommended.
